SUMMARY: The meeting went well, and progress was made on our Vegan Options
for Students campaign. Much information and comradery was experience by
all human units in attendence. I’m going to use the phrase “Action Item”
a lot in these minutes because it’s ridiculous.

Ice(fire) breaker(starter): The most fun thing you’ve don this week.

Sarah: Trip to Canada.
Sierra*: Viewing film ‘28 Grams’
Julie: Psych experiment involving viewing children through one-way mirrors
Noelle: Whole Foods trip and acquisition of vegan choco-gingers
Eric: Spike Lee’s ‘4 Little Girls’ and getting his post-grad First Job™
Kathy: engineering homework (booooo)

* MARS welcomes Sierra to her first meeting. Welcome, Sierra!

Action Item: Gary Yourofsky is coming back (for free!) on March 16th, 8pm,
Michigan League (room TBA) = YAY!

Action Item: AR Philosopher Tom Regan is coming on March 31st, 7-9pm,
Michigan League Ballroom - YAY!

Action Item: Monsier Regan is going to cost us $2,000. We need to
FUNDRAISE. Julie, Eric, Noelle, and Sarah are going to investigate Student
Activities board and Philosophy Dept sponsorship. Open invitation to
anyone else who wishes to drum up funds. Eric will be doing press
releases.

Action Item: We will have a Peaceable Kingdom [1] screening on Feb 18th,
at the League (room TBA) at 7pm. (Ed: this is the best AR film I’ve seen
so far. It has also been highly effective in field trials) Kathy will
make flyers. Eric will be doing press releases.

Action Item: There will be a meeting next Thursday with Residential Dining
Services to move forward on our Vegan Options for Students campaign. As a
result of some research, we have found SYSCO, a large food distributor
that UM uses, has a line of veggie products (~100 varieties) called
MoonRose Vegetarian [2]. Most items are vegan. We hope the gathered
information, RDS cooperation, and collaboration with MARS will get vegan
options in every dorm by Fall 2004 at the latest.

Action Item: The MARS Restaurant Survey has begun. Survey sheets were
handed out. The survey can be found online [3]. If you are going to survey
a restaurant, please notify Eric at egoldber@umich.edu so we don’t
duplicate effort by surveying the same restaurant multiple times.

Action Item: We will be meeting at Kabob Palace for our first Monthly
Sunday Late Lunch this Sunday (2 days!) at 2pm. Kabob Palace is located at
516 E. William St. See Footnote [4] for map.

Great meeting! Hope to see you next week!
